KC Weekly: Serve Others

Have someone read this out loud: Serving is really important to Jesus. One day, two of Jesus’ disciples, James and John, asked if they could have a special place in God’s Kingdom. This made Jesus’ other disciples pretty angry. Here’s what Jesus said to them:  Mark 10:42-45

Talk About It:

  • What do you think Jesus means when he says “anyone who wants to be important among you must be your servant”?
  • What do you think it means to be a servant?

Watch this video together and then talk about these questions:

  • How will we serve each other this week as a family?
  • What are some ways we can serve someone outside of our family this week? Think of ideas, pick one and then do it.

Jesus called them together. He said, “You know about those who are rulers of the Gentiles. They hold power over their people. Their high officials order them around.  Don’t be like that. Instead, anyone who wants to be important among you must be your servant.  And anyone who wants to be first must be the slave of everyone.  Even the Son of Man did not come to be served. Instead, he came to serve others. He came to give his life as the price for setting many people free.”    Mark 10:42-45 (NIrV)
