KC Weekly: Prayer

Prayer is talking to God and hearing from him. Watch this video, then use the questions below to have a conversation together:

Convo Starter 1: Why do you think God wants us to talk to him? What are some things that might seem weird or maybe even “off limits” to talk to God about? What might be some strange, but totally ok places, to talk to God.

Convo Starter 2: Philippians 4:6 (NLT) says, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.” Is there anything that is causing you to worry right now? Each person: talk about what’s worrying you and then talk to God about it out loud. You could even take turns praying for each other. End your time by thinking of 10 ways your family is thankful to God (you might even want to write them down so you can see them later)

Bonus: As a family, memorize Philippians 4:6 by practicing the verse together throughout the week.

Extra Resource: If you’re looking for a great book to read with your kids, we recommend When I Pray for You by Matthew Paul Turner. It communicates the desires that parents have for their kids and helps kids to understand how much they’re loved and cared for.
