KC Weekly: Just Say This

The Lord’s Prayer

Read this out loud: Jesus taught the disciples how to pray. He gave them a simple guideline and reminded them that God already knows what you’re thinking. And no matter what it is, He loves when you reach out in prayer. (Matthew 6:7-13)

Youngest reader read the prayer below out loud. Sitting quietly with eyes closed, everyone listen and focus on the words. Imagine that you are saying them too. This is a way to agree with the prayer in your own heart, letting God know “I pray this too, God.”

READ ALOUD:
Our Father in heaven,
may your name be honored.
May your kingdom come.
May what you want to happen be done
on earth as it is done in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
just as we also have forgiven those who sin against us.
Keep us from sinning when we are tempted.
Save us from the evil one.
Amen.

Prayer Dare:

Read the prayer out loud. Jesus talks about many things we deal with in our daily life—asking for what we need, battling temptation, etc. What is something in your own life that you could apply to this prayer? For example, maybe you need to forgive someone, or ask forgiveness, etc. Everyone pick one part of the prayer and use it to start your own prayer about that thing. For example, “bring your kingdom to earth like it is in heaven and heal my friend, Bob.” Or, “lead me away from the temptation to cheat on my test.” Take turns until everyone has had a turn.

Super Duper Double Dog Dare

Try memorizing the Lord’s Prayer this week. It might seem long at first, but we bet you can do it and it’s definitely worth it!
