In the Bible, we only find one story about what Jesus was like as a kid. Jesus’ parents accidentally left him behind on their return from a family trip. Instead of feeling scared, Jesus stayed in the temple and spent time with his heavenly Father (God!). We talked about how we can spend time with God, too! You can read the story together in Luke 2:41-52.

God prepared us for Jesus the Rescuer by sending a guy named John the Baptist. God promised John hundreds of years before he was born in Isaiah 40:3. Ask your kids: Why did God prepare the world for Jesus?
John also got to do the very special job of baptizing Jesus. When Jesus was baptized, God revealed that he was the Rescuer. It was pretty amazing: Heaven was opened, the Spirit of God came down like a dove and a voice said, “This is my Son, and I love him. I am very pleased with him” (Matthew 3:13-17). Ask your kids to use what they made during small group to tell you more about the story. You can also watch this video about it:
