To help kids experience the story of David and Goliath in a way that best suits them, three-year-olds through 2nd graders will watch a shortened version of God’s Story: David and Goliath while 3rd through 5th graders watch the “Biblically Accurate” version. Below are both versions.
God sent David to fight Goliath and rescue his people, the Israelites. It gives us a preview of the way God would one day send another hero, Jesus, to fight death and rescue us from all the wrong things in the world. If you want, you can watch that part of the story here.
We know that parts of God’s Story are hard to understand–or even agree with. The important thing to remember is that God loves all of us absolutely, no matter what we think or do.

Once a young boy named David defeated a giant who was over nine feet tall. He fought Goliath when everybody else was too scared. This is the story of what happened when David agreed to take on Goliath (1 Samuel 17). And the way David rescued the Israelites gives us a sneak preview of the way God would send another young rescuer to free us all.
