As a Kids’ Club volunteer, you’re part of a team that gets to build relationships with kids and share God’s story with them. To help you do that, we’ve created a multisensory experience, and here’s what it looks like.
First up is Connect Time where kids connect what they already know to what they’re about to hear in Large Group. It’s hands on and prepares them for what’s coming next using games, activities and questions designed to help get their minds rolling.
Next up is Large Group, where kids hear God’s story in a language they understand and get to play crazy games, watch awesome videos, sing loud and dance to worship songs. Presenters will encourage kids to respond and give them a chance to hear from God.
During Large Group a presenter will lead the experience, and your job is to show kids how to engage. So sit in the middle of the kids. Listen and respond to the presenter. During worship, bust out your craziest dance moves and sing super loud. Basically, be the biggest, most excited kid in the room. And if a kid is so excited that they’re distracting, help welcome them back into the experience.
Now it’s time for Small Group, where the questions we provide and the conversations you start help kids review what they’ve just heard in large group, and apply it to their lives. Sometimes, you might not get to all the questions, and that’s okay. Authentic conversation is way more valuable than getting through the list. Small Group may also include a craft, a game, or memorizing a verse. Basically, there will be other ways for kids to understand how they fit into God’s story. Before you know it, parents will be arriving to pick up their kids directly from small group. Which is cool, because this is your chance to connect with parents and share what their kid experienced that day.
Connect Time, Large Group and Small Group all happen best when you’re prepared. So check out the lesson at crossroadskidsclub.net/weekend. Take time to read that part of God’s story in the Bible, and ask God to talk to you about it. Then get ready for a super sweet weekend. Because Kids’ Club is a party. And everyone’s invited.
