Thanks for being a part of Kids’ Club. If you’re new to the team, we think you’re gonna love it. If you’ve volunteered for a while, thanks for your faithful commitment to the kids. By being on the Kids’ Club team, you’re making it possible for literally thousands of kids to hear about who Jesus is and how they can follow him!
You may have heard us say that Kids’ Club is a party where everybody’s invited. And I do mean everybody. No matter a kids’ age, personality, energy level or special need, there’s a place for them in Kids’ Club.
And, like at any good party, kids should have a lot of fun. While they’re having fun, they’ll hear God’s story in language they can understand and be free to wiggle, ask questions, dance like crazy and, if necessary, take frequent potty breaks. In other words, act their age.
Of course, one of the most important things we do is enable kids to experience what Jesus’ love is like in a real and personal way. That means your role in Kids’ Club is super important.
When serving directly with kids, your interactions with them matter. When you get on your knees––on their level––look them in the eye and call them by name, they’ll feel special. When you listen to what they did at their friend’s house last night or ask them why they don’t want to play Simon Says, they’ll feel safe to share their emotions. When you accept a kid––whether they’re laughing, crying, jumping, scowling or sitting in a corner refusing to do anything––they’ll begin to feel loved. Of course, this isn’t always easy. And that’s when we pray for patience. We ask God to help us see a kid, maybe an especially challenging kid, through His eyes.
Some roles don’t interact with kids much at all. But Kids’ Club wouldn’t happen without you. Whether you help create music, videos or lessons; prep rooms and supplies for the weekend; process through mounds of paperwork; welcome brand new families, or secure the halls of Kids’ Club and support volunteers, you are a critical part of creating an environment that runs smoothly, feels safe and inviting, and provides a wide range of resources to help kids understand who Jesus is.
So thank you for being a part of Kids’ Club. I know that sometimes we have really amazing days where we really connect with kids and parents or are crazy efficient, prepping rooms in record time and flying through the paperwork. And on other days, well, it’s just really hard. But know that on the great days, and the not so great days, what we’re doing is making a huge difference in the lives of kids and their families. And through our efforts God is using us to change the world. See you in Kids’ Club!
