Here’s an easy (and fun) way to pray together.
Read this out loud: “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
The Bible tells us to be thankful, no matter what. Whether we’ve had a great day or a terrible day, there is always something for which we can thank God. And it’s important to tell him! Think of how good it feels when someone tells you “thank you.” It feels good to God too!
How it works: Try playing this game this week either at a family dinner or the end of the day: Everyone take turns sharing the highest point (best part) and lowest point (worst part) of their days. Whoever goes first gets to pick who goes next. That person will pick who is next and so on. Tallest person keep track of all the lows. Shortest person, keep track of all the highs.
After all are finished sharing, McTally-Tall will say a prayer for each person’s low part, asking God to help and encourage that person. (Pay attention, McTally!) Short Stuff will say a prayer thanking God for each person’s “high.” (How many high parts can you remember, Short Stuff?)
End it: Have someone read this aloud: “God, thank you for caring our days, both the highs and the lows. Amen.”
