KC Weekly: Family Story

Watch this video and then tell your kids your OWN family story.

STORYTIME!

(Note to Parents) The Bible tells parents over and over again to tell stories about God’s faithfulness to our kids (Check out Joshua 4). And your kids LOVE to hear stories about YOU, believe it or not — like what your life was like before they became part of your family, or what you wanted to be when you grew up, or when you faced your fear. They want to know the REAL you. (Don’t believe us? Read this.)

So give it a try! Set aside some time this week to tell some family stories. If you’re not sure where to start, here are 20 ideas to get you thinking. (Pro tip: Make family videos together! Have your kid record you telling your stories. Then they’ll have access to your story for many, many years to come.)

And Joshua said to them, “Pass on before the ark of the Lord your God into the midst of the Jordan, and take up each of you a stone upon his shoulder, according to the number of the tribes of the people of Israel, that this may be a sign among you. When your children ask in time to come, ‘What do those stones mean to you?’ then you shall tell them that the waters of the Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord. When it passed over the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan were cut off. So these stones shall be to the people of Israel a memorial forever"... And he said to the people of Israel, “When your children ask their fathers in times to come, ‘What do these stones mean?’ then you shall let your children know, ‘Israel passed over this Jordan on dry ground.’ - Joshua 4:5-7, 21-22
