A good teammate encourages others. Today, kindergarten through fifth graders found out about the time a guy named Barnabas encouraged a guy named Paul. Read about it together in Acts 9:19-31.

To understand how Barnabas encouraged Paul, it’s helpful to know Paul’s story. Here’s a short video about it. Then ask: If you were a follower of Jesus, what would you think about Paul? Why?

Check out a video about how Barnabas stood up for Paul. Then ask, how did Barnabas encourage Paul?

Remember 1 Corinthians 9:24-25: “Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.” When does the race get hard? Has anybody ever encouraged you when things were tough?

Come up with one way to encourage somebody this week. You could make them a card, tell them something you love about them or stand up for them, like Barnabas did for Paul.
