Large Group Presentation

Welcome to Kids’ Club! And, hey, thanks for volunteering! One of the most important/coolest things we get to do in Kids’ Club is teach kids about Jesus. That he loves them. That he has a plan for them. And that he’s good.

So, before you start presenting (or maybe as a refresher for all you veterans), here are a few tips to make your presenting experience awesome.

Before you even get to the weekend, it’s super important to prepare. Print out your script beforehand and get comfortable with it. Talk through it with an audience. The more familiar you are with the material, the better. Plus, without those pesky nerves, being prepared will help you connect with kids. And that’s good for everyone.

Once you’ve made it to the weekend (twenty minutes early, of course), do a quick walkthrough to cover any logistics. If you’re not a techie, don’t worry. The behind-the-scenes teams in Kids’ Club have worked hard beforehand to make your job as easy as possible. So when you get to your room, check to make sure that all remotes are in working order. Run through the slides and maybe even take one more peek at your script.

Now it’s time to present. Your hard work has led up to this so enjoy it! Let your personality shine through (while sticking to the script, of course). It’s written with specific age groups in mind, so remember to stick to the message outlined for you. Figuratively.

The large group piece of Kids’ Club is super important, so try to make it feel like a unique/special/? part of the hour. Flicker the lights, play the transition music provided in the Keynote and definitely make sure your mic is on. Oh, you’ll also want to make sure iTunes is turned off. Making your presentation feel like a unique part of the hour will help kids pay attention.

Now that you’ve got their attention, it’s your job to keep kids engaged. But you definitely can’t do it alone so be sure to invite other room volunteers to help you out with this.

Maybe this means asking them to sit with the kids (especially the energetic ones). Or maybe it means having a special code word in case kids get rowdy. Or calling out a kid who’s doing a great job of paying attention. Maybe it’s your awesome dance moves during worship. Yeah…it’s probably those dance moves.

Once the presentation is over, take a deep breath. You did it! And your courage means that kids have a chance to know God even better. And that’s worth celebrating.
