How To Use this Advent Calendar

This online experience is designed to help your family celebrate the Christmas season together. Each day through Christmas day, a new activity will be posted. You don’t have to do every single activity, but take some time each day to count down to Christmas!

Day 9: Be A Friend

When the angel told Mary she was going to have a baby, he also told her that her relative, Elizabeth, was pregnant. Mary probably felt scared and overwhelmed, and she went to visit Elizabeth immediately. You can read what happened in Luke 1:39-45. How do you think Mary felt after she visited Elizabeth? (Probably a lot better, huh?)

I Thessalonians 5:11 tells us that God wants us to encourage others. Think of someone you could encourage. Plan to do something kind for them today like writing them a note, drawing them a picture or telling them what you love about them. You can also watch this music video for ideas!

Luke 1:39-45

A few days later Mary hurried to the hill country of Judea, to the town 40 where Zechariah lived. She entered the house and greeted Elizabeth. 41 At the sound of Mary’s greeting, Elizabeth’s child leaped within her, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

42 Elizabeth gave a glad cry and exclaimed to Mary, “God has blessed you above all women, and your child is blessed. 43 Why am I so honored, that the mother of my Lord should visit me? 44 When I heard your greeting, the baby in my womb jumped for joy.45 You are blessed because you believed that the Lord would do what he said.”
