What happened to Samuel in today’s story? What do you think that shows us about God? (You might have to help kids figure out the second part.) If kids forget, you can read I Samuel 3 with kindergarteners through fifth graders or I Samuel 16:1-13 with preschoolers.

This month we have been focusing on Philippians 4:13 a lot. It says, “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” Take turns telling each other one way that God gave you strength to do something scary or difficult (like walking into your classroom on the first day of school or getting a shot at the doctor’s office).

Hearing God’s voice can take practice. Together, sit down and watch the video below. Then spend some quiet time listening to God. If you don’t hear him, that’s OK! Just keep asking him to talk to you.

Share a conversation you’ve had with God (this week or anytime). What did God say? What are you going to do about it?
